Editorial meeting

When the Swedish ski magazine Brant changed owner earlier on this year, I was asked to become the new photo editor, and I said yes. The new owner is Go Outside Media, same publisher running the magazines Outside, Paddling and Outside Träning.
Yesterday we had an editorial meeting in Växjö (the office of Go Outside Media) together with Glenn Mattsing (editor in Chief of Outside), Karoline Ekman (Editor in Chief of Brant), Carl Eilert (Graphical designer) and myself. The plan was t

The winter in numbers

I really like number, so I made a summary of the winter season from the 1st of January to the 9:th of May 2012.
- 66 days spent on the mountain
- 9 visited ski resorts (Engelberg, Verbier, Bruson, Sogndal*2, Björkliden, Abisko, RiksgränsenZell am See)

Damavand was a great adventure

After 4 days of preparation we where finally ready for the summit push. The previous days had been all about carrying gear from Camp 1 at 2.400 masl via Camp 2 at 3.000 masl up to Camp 3 at 4.200 masl. We did a lot of walking up and down between the camps, all to achieve an optimal acclimatization. And we were feeling good. No headaches and strong legs. We arrived for the last time at camp 3 around noon on Thursday, and the plan was to rest until midnight. So we did a bit of hanging around in th

Damavand next

Time for adventure! I just got done with the packing for Tormod\'s and my Damavand adventure. Damavand (5.610 masl) is located about 66km North of Iran\'s capital Tehran and is regarded as the highest volcano on the Asian continent. Is it active? Well, from what I have read there should be fumaroles and hot springs on the volcano. But the last known eruption took place about 7000 years ago. So, active? Not in the way I like it...
The gear.
The food.
And done packing!

The expectations weren\'t that high has we entered the helicopter yesterday morning. The wind direction for the past couple of days had been Easterly, which often is bad for the snow condition. We left a cloudy Riksgränsen at 0700, and 45 seconds later we were above the clouds. Mountains are so beautiful from above!

We did heliskiing/shooting for 6 hours in clear blue sky with sometimes powder up to hours knees. The snow conditions were not goo

The good days keeps on lining up. First two days in the Swedish mountains close to the Alesjauren hut. Super weather in combination with good snow and nice company made this to a really good trip. And yesterday I went to the summit of Nonfjellet (or maybe it is called something else, pretty bad at names...) together with a group from Purefreeride Camp. Again super weather, good snow and nice company!
Nice mountains close to the Alesjauren hut.Kebnekaise visible in the background.

Been busy times. And fun times! 8 days ago I was skiing powder (deep powder) in Engelberg and now I am sitting in Abisko, Sweden, with magic views over parts of the Swedish mountain range. And three days ago I was on the summit, in the sunset, on Sweden\'s eighth highest mountain. I feel it\'s hard not to like my job!
Let\'s start with Engelberg. What happened? It started to dump and it just didn\'t end. I skied my best powder of the season over Easter. Ok, it was a bit flat light, but it just

12 days of Northern Norway

My Northern Norway tour is over. 12 days, 8 mountains, 7 summits, 5600 vertical meters with skins, 63 gb of captured images, 3 Northern light evenings, 1 missed volcanic eruption on Etna, 5 flat light days, 2 semi-powder days and 1 party night. It has been good days up North. I have met many good, nice and interesting people, enjoyed magic views and captured some good images. But, it is good heading back to Göteborg. Well, it\'s just for one day - Engelberg next!

Meeting with publisher

Went to Stockholm yesterday, just for the day. Had a meeting with my publisher regarding Anders Wingqvist\'s and my Adventure Photography book. Jonas and Fredrik had a few things to point out on the first draft... It was flashback time to my thesis in geology. Lots of hand writing on the print out... But, they pointed out some really good things! So, it is time to finish this thing off now.
Anyone been through this before...

I just had a morningmare. Again. Like always in the mornings I check Etna\'s tremor chart, and what do I see. Yes, levels sky rocket high. And I know what that means. I switch website and look at the webcams. Nooooooooooooo!!!! I magic ash column rising kilometers up in the air. It is so beautiful, but at the same time so annoying!!!

This volcano is taking way too much of my time. I could have been there, I had time, but I wasn\'t there. I can\'t accept it (yepp, have to, I know). I made a de

Public and commercial expeditions comes with commitments. We have seen it so many times before, and we will see it so many times in the future. Once again it is stormy around a Swedish adventurer. This time it is about Johan Ernst Nilsson and his \"Pole2Pole\"-expedition.
I love expeditions. I am impressed by expeditions. Not seldom are people trying to break new grounds, like climbing 8000 meter peaks in winter, or aiming of setting people on Mars. This is important, to show us humans what is

The project with Andreas Fransson and Bjarne Sahlen was cancelled due to really bad weather, rain, rain, rain, warm, warm, warm. A bit frustrating actually, because now I can\'t stop thinking about Etna (I have a week \"off\"). Things are definitely building up in there, but it is just impossible to know when she\'s going to blow.
Look at this chart. This is before the last eruption on the 4th of March. The tremors are slowly building up but it is still 13 days to next eruption.
And this is wh
