hip session
last day of skiing this season, and I finally got to hit the hip I’ve been wanting to session. unfortunately, these last few weeks here in squaw valley have seen some ridiculously warm weather combined with wind, so there was not much left of it. it was safe to say no records were going to be broken on it. i was still amped to get my hip game back on, since it was two years ago since the last time. we got up in the morning and started sessioning it and got the bangers within 20 tries. here’s two shots from the burton snowboarder marko grilc:

flat 3

...almost out of frame...
after hitting the deck a couple times, and starting to feel pretty good about the height, i decided to sit down and watch the snowboarders, while russ and colby sessioned the left side of the hip, both going pretty massive. the swedish snowboarder chris sörman and I then switched gear, and started hitting the hip again. I cant think of a better way to end a season than looking like a total beginner with your friends.

this shot might as well have been taken in 1997. backside air, spring, t-shirt, slush and a deteriorating park feature. this is called going out in style.
so, right now I am packing my bags, I have a flight booked home from los angeles on sunday afternoon, so these next three days will be spent in newport where I might catch a few waves. then 2 weeks of wonderful home time before going to Bali, Indonesia.
Summer is here and I am so ready for it.
