weekends are always fun with me!
Especially when I spend 90% of my time in bed feeling sorry for myself. I rarely get sick but when I do I’m not capable of anything.
Yesterday I woke up feeling great, so we went skiing for a couple runs but the bad weather came in from nowhere and in typical Breckenridge style the sunny morning soon turned into a blizzard and less than favorable skiing conditions. However, I did snap a few pictures of Sofia shredding peak 7, here’s one of them:
Just two days until X Games, so I need all the cold/flu remedies I can get my hands on. Do you have any good tips out there, please post it in the comments field!

problems, skiing

Mer sömn än normalt blandat med frisk luft brukar hjälpa (kanske en liten promenad). Sen är det alltid bra att dricka mycket vatten.
my advice is get some
-panadol (paracetamol): pain and fever reducing
or
-algifor 400 (ibuprofenum): same as above
Not sure about the us market tho, so u might not ger the algifor but u def. should be able to get the panadol. helps a lot and no sideeffects. That’s my advice from the med-studets side… oh and get some wick medinait for the night. has a lot of alcohol in it so it make u sleep super good.
hope i could hlp
Drinck a lot of wather and juice
Garlic is good to keep away a cold
My uncle who was a top cyclist and trained around 6 hours per day actually ate garlic pills to keep away infections before big competitions. You don’t have to do it as extreme as he did but you can try to eat a little extra garlic (if Sofhia doesn’t mind;))
Try to sleep and just sleep it away!
Hope you get well soon!
have a couple of recommendations here, collected in my function, ehm, life as a doctor’s daughter:
)
-drink tea with fresh ginger (ginger is good for the immune system), anyway drink at least 2 l of tea (prefarably with herbs like elder and thyme)
-fresh juice of 1-2 lemons in a cup mixed with hot (not cooking) water and a bit honey (1 lemon contains your daily vitamin c-need, always good against a cold)
-vitamin d-pills, up to 2000 IU/day, but not more (again, boosts immune system, especially against flu/cold-stuff, is available in drugstores in the US)
-zinc (same reason…)
-more than enough sleep (but when you stay in bed 90% of your time you’ll probably do this anyway
usually it should be fine with these things but could be also useful to get some other stuff at a pharmacy which helps… not sure what it’s like with homeopathic stuff in the US (something with sage, fennel, nelks and thymol, aconitum napellus or ferrum phosphoricum works fine against a cold) but they definitely have stuff like vicks nyquil or tylenol cold. this stuff contains a mixture of active substances which is not so good for long-ranged use and the medicine for the daytime often includes caffeine which kind of simulates fitness to your body instead of helping your body fighting against the virus but tylenol and vicks are able to help very fast which could be important for you right now.
hope that everything will be fine for you and this damn cold won’t constrain you during X games. get well pretty soon!
thanks everyone for quick replies, I’m on the vitamin C program (emergenC’s) already, but now I have a bunch of other options to try.
going to beat this before thursday… Right now im thinking its almost good for me because I wont get too much practice and I will be hungry for skiing my best when it matters.
stay tuned!
Krya på dig snabbt lilla gubben!
Kram mamma
Drink alcohol, allways works for me!
Basta galet mycket. Se till att svettas ur förkylningen, brukar fungera för mig. . .
If you can’t see a doctor speak to a pharmacist they can advise what you can and can not take in combination and make sure your taking medication that is helping with the specific symptoms you have, it might not cure but it will help your body recover faster if you feeling a bit more comfortable.
On top of that eat plenty of veg your body needs all the nutrition it can get to help it fight off the infection, you could also go the chicken soup route as well but you want the stuff that has been made by reducing down chicken with the bones in it (bones removed before eating obv)
Hot water mixed with honey and lemon is a nice one to have as well, manuka honey is worth a go as well http://www.manukahoney.co.uk/therapeuticuses.html it might be a placebo effect but i’ll try anything to get rid of a cold.
rest up and try to not stress, you can only do so much to get better, if there is something you can do to take your mind off it throw a bit of that in as well, bit of sketching etc.
time will help!
10+ Manuka Honey is all you need if you can get your hands on some in Breck. Mix it with lemon juice and hot water. Drink a couple of litres of it throughout the day.
First pic looks a lot like Kurt Cobain… Go to a health foods store and try and get your hands on some oil of oregano. Awful stuff but if you gargle it, and keep it under your tongue for a good 15 seconds before swallowing, it does wonders for the sick body. All natural too right? So you’re healing your body the right way
