Swedish christmas

Swedish Christmas usually consists of a lot of relatives getting together that usually don’t see eachother more than maybe once a year, usually around christmas. My family is no exception. Then we all gather around the Julbord, or Christmas table, which in most cases is stacked full of different dead animals. After eating, we all proceed to watch short parts from Disney movies on TV, drinking glögg, and at last, we all get to give and receive cristmas gifts that we never had any idea that we wanted.

Sometimes I wonder why some of these traditions last, why we keep doing something so many of us dreads year after year, the same meaningless routines. But it’s not about the food, and it’s not about the gifts. In the end it’s all about taking some well needed time off work, to sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet of the cold, dark Scandinavian winter together.

In other news, my cold has finally started to leave my body after 3 weeks of total sickness. I really hope it’s for real this time because with this much snow outside it would be a shame not to be able to use it.

Stay tuned!
