Chatter Creek

what line do you want?

Rolled into the Chatter Creek trailhead at 10 this morning and was left with my rental snowmobile way out in the middle of nowhere. Luckily filmer Nate Nash and skier Richard Permin were there to guide me to the lodge, and help me with my bags on the 20 km sled trail up there.

Well, this place is pretty damn extreme, probably the most remote place I’ve ever been to, and as we went out for a loop on the snowmobiles we realized there are some serious skiing to be done. Endless amount of gnarly spine lines, stepdowns, pillows, rock walls, cliffs, anything a backcountry skier could possibly ask for, all within a 20 minute snowmobile ride from our huge, luxury lodge. First day of sun and it’s on!

pillow city

same as the first, from an even more intimidating angle.

I have maybe driven a snowmobile in powder snow a maximum amount of 5 days in my entire life, so today was a good day to get out there and get used to her. Me and Richard managed to have to dig our sleds out from under trees and deep powder snow a number of times, but towards the end of the day things started to get smoother as we sessioned this little field for a bit;

total rookie #1

Time to get some dinner and a hot tub session before going to bed. Tomorrow it’s on!
