jungle hikes and fish markets
Sitting at Jakarta international airport looking through the photos from our last few days. Spending some time in west Java has been great, such a relaxing atmosphere compared to the chaos in Bali. This weekend we have escaped the crowds and done some sightseeing, visiting hot springs, and checking out the local culture. Here’s a few keepers:
hot springs at Cipanas. smells like rotten eggs and when it’s 35°C in the shade I wasn’t too keen on going in.
instead we hiked up along the river for about an hour to find some good swimming spots.
it was a longer jungle hike than we expected. and we had no idea where we were going at times.
after hours we finally found what we were looking for, and swimming in 25°C freshwater in the jungle with no one around for miles was worth every drop of sweat!
Yesterday we ventured into the nearby city of Pelabuhan Ratu to get some antibiotics for an ear infection that’s been bothering me lately. Hopefully it’ll go away in time for some serious surfing in Bali. While we were in the city we stopped by the harbour to check out the fish market. I recommend it if you like fish. Lots of fish…
the main street in Pelabuhan Ratu. to our left are durian fruits, an indonesian speciality. they smell like sewage but supposedly taste good. I dont trust it.
one of many fish tables at the market.
amazing sunset over the harbour
Check back soon, next post will be from Bali, and hopefully we’ll see some serious swell over the next few weeks!
