Jacob Wester

Today we arrived in the tranquil mountain town of Ella, 100 kilometers west of Arugam Bay. No surfing here, to be honest not much of anything else either. Our hotel is sitting on top of a steep mountain side overlooking deep valleys of tea plantations and untouched jungle. We’re going to stay here for two nights before catching the train to Colombo, and after that a flight to Indo. It’s going to be nice to spend two days up here doing nothing but drinking local tea and taking photos of the scenery…

Leaving our hotel in A-Bay was hard, if you’re going I strongly suggest Arugam Bay Beach Inn (formerly known as “Hillton”)

Time for some dinner and then some sleep in the fresh, cool mountain air, a well-deserved break from the oppressive humidity along the coast.
