M.O.F
So last night I went to see a show with the quartet Monsters of Folk, the super group consisting of M.Ward, Yim Yames, Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst, who all come from some kind of huge career (solo career, My Morning Jacket, Bright eyes, etc). Did not have the highest expectations going to a concert in a church, with no bar, and benches to sit on, but there were tickets left and I had a feeling I wouldnt want to miss it, since I actually liked their album they just put out. I think I did the right choice. Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis has played in Bright Eyes for over ten years now so that kind of made the call for me to go, and as expected they pretty much ruled the show. Really cool to see so many different musicians all playing 3 or 4 seperate shows woved into eachother, the MMJ fans got theirs, the M.Ward fans got to hear a bunch of his original work, and I got to drown in nostalgia as Conor played some of his old, old, tracks. What a night.
just a cheap street-corner place but the food was good. I hate it when they charge you ridiculous amounts of money for just rice and raw fish, so this place was well worth it.
I thought a show in a big church would be lame but it was actually a pretty majestic experience, Im happy that I went.
Shot some video during the show so for you musically interested out there, you might want to check it out:
Now I’m off to the rider hotel (1 km from my apartment), to check in, and then head downtown to get a waxjob (for my skis, duh), then press conference, then practice. Should be a fun day!
