another day has passed. today I spent a few hours on the lake trying to catch some fish but with no success, unfortunately. the weather was perfect though, and I didnt really want to be anywhere else, so that didnt matter. looks like we have another weekend of rain and misery in the forecast, so that means I’ll be spending most of my time inside anyways.

after getting back home, I hooked up with a couple friends to help them recording a new song. in the video below, we are adding a sweet electronic percussion track, shit’s going to be epic…

I will post a link to the song on here once it’s fully finished.

Jacob

(btw – I couldnt help noticing Jon is doing some kind of car race around the world. could anyone tell me what the point of it is? besides burning hundreds of gallons of gas, that is. I really don’t get it, but stoked for him I guess?)

  2. “The Rally is not a serious race in the traditional sense of Rally races – there are no prizes for being fastest or official timekeeping of any sort. Organizers emphasize that it is a road trip adventure and not a race.[1]”

that part didnt exactly paint a clearer picture. nope, sorry, i still dont get it.

  3. well ofc u wanna show people u’ve got cash flow and r still one of em cool cats that party hard and happily ignores speeding laws (although the rumour bout ridiculously high speeds are kinda exaggerated) The entrance fee is modest, only 45000 dollars.. It used to be about transfer with style to get the title and I think the conditions are still the same, more than a traditional contest bout being the actual first car to cross the line. Finishes off in NYC 7th of May. 120 (rare) cars competing, Xzibit e.g often joins the circus, so also this year. The Hoff himself drove the K.I.T.T in ’08. Fans seems to love this spectacle, especially in Canada, incredible reception.

  5. most stupid car race ever…
    big cars – small dicks

  6. The FAQ has good info. Basically, it’s an event for people who love cars, driving them, or watching them pass by.

Happy to learn that your knee will get better soon :)

  7. Seriously, if Jon wants to do the Gumball race, then let him.
I’m happy for him since it’s something that he likes and has been very excited about for the last couple of weeks. Looks like a lot of fun.

  8. so ur question wants to show, that u think it’s complete nonsense? well yes it is, i think so too, but u can’t stop it :)

  9. “the point of it is? besides burning hundreds of gallons of gas, that is.”

Oh my god Jacob. I think youre a cool guy, but that is just lame. What do you think flying across the world like 20 times a year does to the environment. Just to go skiing different places. You saccrifice the environment for skiing, others do it for their interests. How can you blame them? Hypocrite?!

  10. hahaha I’m so glad that you added that PS about Jon. I’ve been trying to figure out what the point of that race is too. They should have made it a cycling race instead so they could be more environmentally friendly.

  11. ronnie, I think the expences for gas was the aspect. not the enviorment

  12. j, sometimes you come across as a bitch – esp on your mate Jon ;)

BUT i totally respect your honesty

and in this case totally agree – jon is being a show off and a self promoting ass. i’m totally over his blog and his talk of being ‘cool’

and olivia is not fit – end of story

  13. oooh so bitchy! =) I can understand why people like gumball, people like cars and people who can afford cars like jons like showing them off. I guess its just a world wide “i’m so cool, check me out, look at me”-fest. Not something I am a fan of, but stereotypical adolescent boys and men with more money than sense have to be into something…

  14. couldn’t find the real point of if either. there is not enough info on it to look behind the scenes, but since it’s so popular they could use it for some good cause. If it wasn’t for Gumball, these cars would still be burning hundreds of gallons of gas, because these people want to show off their ‘assets’

jon seems to like it a lot, so don’t hate on him too much people! isn’t the whole freestyle spirit about doing what drives you?? i can see he is excited, doesn’t get to drive that lambo very often.
‘self promoting ass’ might be harsh. he is still jon who has done so much for his sport and you can’t say he doesn’t work hard and has no good ideas..
speaking of ideas, you could do so much more with yourself jacob!

at the end of the day, don’t worry jacob! music and fishing is so much cooler than all that craziness with snobs around you.

  15. sorry, no hate intended! i was just trying to wrap my head around it…and maybe cause someone out there to THINK for a second…

  16. M, why should anyone work harder for something they don’t want when they already have everything they do?

  17. Yeah, it caused me to THINK. That you sometimes seem to look down on people, don´t you? Free yor mind a little. Respect what other people like.

  18. Ronnie – you don’t have to respect anything. just because someone likes it doesn’t mean i should respect it.

Some ppl like going to africa and shooting endangered species – fuck that if i have to like it in order to respect someone’s ‘likes’

i agree though – jon is doing what he loves – that’s cool. but i/we can say we don’t like or agree with it

  19. BITCH!!!!

  20. Marcus, that´s a great comparison. Really.

    I´ll stop whining now :)

  21. sorry, no hate intended! i was just trying to wrap my head around it…

  22. jon’s image is clearly built on superficial things like doing gumball and living in monaco, ‘neuvo riche’.
Saying that, i think he is a great ambassador to skiing and comes across a nice guy on his blog.

  24. Fan Jacob, lägg ner all hating nu!

  25. Jacob, jon is the king. Got youre thinking game, no good.Go do ya own thang

  26. a lot of you people need to realize there’s a distinct difference between personal “hate” and critizism directed towards a phenomenon. I am not looking down on Jon at all, i’m not the slightest bit jealous of his lifestyle as you seem to think, I choose to live my life an entirely different way. Jon is an amazing skier and I want him to do what pleases him, be it flying his car between continents.

with my post I only intended to raise some thoughts around the phenomenon that is Gumball. I understand that if you have an expensive car, you want people to see it. fine. but the question I am posing here is; is there really a need for an event like this? we already have car shows all over the world, do we need another one? arent there better things to do with all that money? 35 Gs just to enter, are you kidding me? It’s not the shameless self-promoting or the environmental issues that bugs me (the most), it is the utter disrespect for money that a lot of people seem to look up to. that’s what I don’t get.

does anyone agree, does anyone understand where I’m coming from here? learn to see the difference between someone voicing their honest opinions and someone “hating”.

    J

Stila dej!!!

  29. Pfff! Your just jellous Jacob!!!

  30. wtf is your problem Jacob??

  31. Jacob i totally agree.

I don’t understand the Swedish below your post but presume it’s hate towards your super straight comment

I too hate the shameless masochism and bravado of gumball and Jon showing off the whole time (i’m not saying you agree with the Jon part.)

I also think it’s a waste for the environment and money doing Gumball

Could have spent 35k taking a land rover through Africa helping charities as well as surfing, kiting and having a laugh

I think you are spot on to pose the question around Gumball, and i can understand it wasn’t an attack on Jon

And yeh i’d much rather be fighting pike on light tackle and surfing Uluwatu breaks than fighting for position amongst a load of show off car nuts

btw i have a confession – i’m going to the monaco grand prix but only as it’s for work! sharing 800EE bottles of Vodka with idiots ain’t my choice

    Jacob
