Lombok

Hi everyone,

Made it to Lombok on wednesday after taking a 3 hour “fast-boat” ride from Nusa Lembongan. If you’re ever planning on travelling to Lombok from Bali, get a flight ticket. I was close to throwing my guts up about 10 times and pretty much all our gear got soaked sitting in the back of the boat.

Anyways, here we are, and we’re alive. Lombok is the next big island to the east of Bali, and a lot less populated. Tourism here is still developing very slowly, which means a lot more empty waves if you’re willing to do some searching. Unfortunately we’ve had a lot of onshore winds the last few days so we’ve been going to the better known spots, and so has everybody else.

Surfing the fun righthanders of Inside Grupuk, an easy wave to reach by renting a local boat guide for a session. They’ll take you out to the break and surf it together with you for as long as you want. We’re paying about 3 bucks each.

Late drop on a solid set wave. I didnt make it.

Swedish fellow Kalle getting a fun one

Another friend, Leo, on one of his first waves in his surfing career. Pretty good!

Dogs and cows. Everywhere, dogs and cows.

Props to Sofia for getting the shot, everytime.

That’s it for now, gonna spend another 3 days here before heading back to the motherland of Bali. Then we’ll probably just decide from there.

Stay tuned!

Jacob
