LA – here we come!
blogging straight from Arlanda airport outside Stockholm, where Sofia and I are leaving for LA today. going to spend 10 days cruising around, just having a proper vacation for a bit. surf forecast looks terrible as of right now, so I guess we’re gonna do the whole tourist thing the first few days. any locals reading this blog, please give us advice on what we can’t miss! going to be staying in newport beach, OC, but we will have a car so we can go pretty much wherever.
stay tuned for more updates – LA style!

hey buddy.
santa barbara is worth a drive up. it’s super pretty and the beach is beautiful. enjoy your time. cu in zurich in 3 weeks. pce
Not a Local but been there in April.
Go to the Santa Monica Pier and maybe ride the rollercoaster. Go walk on Hollywood Boulevard. Some Nice shopping there. You could see if youll get anything in the Oakley Shop there
If you want a nice pic of the Hollywood Sign go to the Hollywood Bowl. In my opinion youll get the Best view of it from there. For a nice overview of the city go up to the Griffith observatory.
I lived in Malibu for a year.
Santa Monica, Venice, the view from the Getty Museum, a drink on the rooftop bar at the Standard Hotel Downtown LA, and the beaches of Malibu (Westward+Broadbeach).
If you feel like walking in the forests/mountains top, the whole Topanga Canyon scenery is beautiful, up in Malibu.
As for junk food:
The Counter, Santa Monica (Gourmet Burger)
Canters, Hollywood (jewish delicatessen)
Malibu Kitchen, Malibu (best muffins ever made on earth).
Oh and if you have the Time and Money you might wanna go to the Universal Studios and take a look at that. Or try the Indoor skydiving they have near that.
Skip the standard downtown. You can check out H’wood BLVD but you won’t be impressed. Disneyland is fun
Getty Villa is nice. Griffith Observatory. Getty Museum. LACMA. MOCA. Check out a show at the Hollywood Bowl or The Greek Theater. Ray Lamontagne is at the Greek this week. Can always get tickets outside the venue.
Flavorpill always has some good suggestions: http://flavorpill.com/losangeles/editor_picks
DailyCandy is also good:

LA Weekly:

Since you are in to music, why not checkout “whisky a go go”? I have never been there but it would be awesome to see the place where so many great rock bands started their careere
Stop by universal studios and pick up some Jay Leno tickets. They’re free, not hard to get and you’ll have a
great time watching the show live!
