Just finished a hearty breakfast consisting of three eggs on toast, 3dl of oatmeal with raisin and milk, and three cups of coffee. Going to head to the gym for a chest/tris workout before packing my bags and get on a flight to Zürich tonight.

Just got my Popaganda pass (Swedish music festival), super pumped to spend friday afternoon listening to the Go! Team, Is Tropical, Henrik Berggren and the Arcade Fire!

Can’t think of a better way to spend a late summer friday in Stockholm!

Other news: just got back from the gym, quick but heavy chest/triceps workout (good tip switching bics and tris around). Now I’m chillaxing on the couch with a Monster Khaos (the orange one, easily my favorite), and thinking about heading out to the lake for some perch fishing and dinner with the fam. Will keep you guys posted!

Not too much going on at the moment, except for cruising around costa mesa on my bike and skateboarding at the armada headquarters;

Mike Hornbeck showed up and had a couple beers and blunt stalls.

Fang Island – Fang Island

Easily my favorite album of 2010/2011, Fang Island’s self-titled debut CD has been going on repeat the last few months. I don’t even know how to classify their indie-rock/power-metal/post-punk sound, but it’s definitely got me!

I have my first memories of music from that little piece of plastic, and I can still remember flipping through the booklet while listening to the opening track Moving on, over and over again, mesmerized by that heavy guitar hook and the exploding rock ‘n’ roll drum beat.

I was about 6 years old, and I had no idea what he was singing about, but there was something about that album that I think made me appreciate good music, and for that I am forever thankful. I knew that I wanted to play the guitar because I wanted to sound like the great Gary, and every birthday I wished for an electric guitar but I never got one until I learned to play the acoustic guitar first. Probably a good strategy on my parent’s side, because from the day I got my first electric guitar (Epiphone Les Paul II, a replica of what Gary played), I turned the amp all the way up and the house filled with music that without the classical training probably would have been pretty annoying in the long run.

Gary Moore passed away in a hotel room in Spain yesterday, at the age of 58. He leaves behind some of the best music ever made, and with all these great musicians leaving, I can’t help but think – Who’s going to take their place? I’m turning this one up loud for you, Gary:

Hey guys, not much to write about, so I figured I’d post some tunes for y’all.

As you know I’m a long time fan of Conor Oberst’s neverending project Bright Eyes, and recently he re-released an old album with a few new tracks, One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels, together with another great band, Neva Dinova. The new tracks are awesome, check it out here: one jug of wine, two vessels. my favorites so far are Happy Accident and I Know You.

In other news, not much going on today, going to head down town to go skateboard at Stockholm Skatepark, just to get my thoughts about the weekend together, skateboarding is a great way for me to focus on my skiing, strange as it may sound.

Tomorrow starts practice for King of Style! So stay tuned for pictures and video, the forecast looks terrible but when you have the world’s absolute big air elite coming to town you know your’e going to get a good show.

Had a great evening last night, listening to my, as of right now, favorite electro rock band, Ratatat. Great show, packed venue and an overall good vibe. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend you go see them if you get the chance!

Going to see them live tonight at Debaser slussen in downtown Stockholm, so I’m pretty hyped for that. It was actually a ski movie that first introduced me to Ratatat, if I remember correctly they had a song in the trailer for Level 1′s Shanghai Six.

If you’re going to the show, make sure to say what up, I’ll probably be dancing my pants off!
