I've had a pair of Rossignol CS70 Classic skis with Axium TP12 bindings for several seasons. I've used them quite extensively for slalom training - they are not a full-on race ski but still quite high performance. I have never noticed any significant play in the bindings and my slalom skiing has developed a lot on that ski. In GS I have been using Atomic skis with 10-18 race bindings and for super G my bindings are Look 8-18 racing bindings. I don't feel that the Rossignol binding has perfomed that differently to those bindnings. I've just retired the CS 70 and have stepped up to a Dynastar full FIS race ski with Look 8-15 race bindings but I haven't skied those skis yet, so I can't compare. A friend of mine has a pair of Dynastars with the Look equivalent to the Rossi TP12 (identical binding with different badge) and he has never complained about excessive play. I also have a pair of Head Supershape Speed with Tyrolia Railflex bindings somewhere at the back of my ski cupboard. The Railflex binding has a lot of play in it before you put your boot into it, but so long as you get the forward pressure adjusted right it skis ok. However, I would say that the Rossignol has less play than this bindning. My conclusion is that your bindings are either installed/adjusted poorly or something has broken. I don't think using this binding has been the limiting factor in how well I can ski a slalom course. I have had to have the DIN rather high up the range to avoid pre-release (I think about 10), but I'm running at least that high for GS and SG. But it's better to have bindings where the level you want is towards the bottom of the scale. So I'm moving over to a full race binding for SL as well. But the TP12 has been pretty ok, it's asking a lot of a standard recreational binding to use it for racing. Mark
