Nobody wants to have to lean back in order to make their tips rise, nor do they want their tips to dive. The goal is to drive the ski from the ball of the foot as if you were on hard snow. Moving the mounting point backward on a ski to float the tips is a band aid fix that shifts the skier behind the sidecut's sweetspot. Ideally, the mounting point should be flush with the sweetspot while the ski remains ultra-balanced in deep snow. By endowing a ski with a longer tip, the sidecut and mounting point are naturally shifted backwards in relation to the ski's overall running length. The longer, gradually scooping tip lifts the ski higher up in the snowpack. Each tip shape and length is designed in relation to a particular ski's overall purpose. For example, the Cassiar has an 159mm tip for better hard snow engagement and a more central mounting point. The Wailer 105 has a 220mm tip to bridge the gap between mixed snow and powder performance, while the Lotus 138 has 600mm of shovel for the ultimate in planing and lift.</em></p><p></p><p>Nu ska jag nog sova...</p></blockquote><p></p>
