I want to spend 2 weeks snowboarding this season, thinking of kläppen since it's pretty affordable. How is the snow in February (week 5 & 6, before sportlov..)? Or would it be better to wait until end of march, after sportlov? I definitely want to avoid sportlov.. My plan is to just ride the park the whole time and try to get better, so maybe they have good enough snowmaking for the weather to not matter that much?
And do people usually stay in Kläppen or in Sälen? It seems like Sälen is more of a proper town, but I don't really go out anyways. I will probably just want to go out for dinner half the nights, and cook at home the rest.

Last winter the big park didn't open in Kläppen until the end of February due to the lack of snow and cold. So there is no guarantee that the park will be open before the sportlov this year either... I would definitely choose to go after week 9 anyways due to a higher chance of good weather, longer days and so on.

If you don't plan to go out that much and plan to ride mostly in Kläppen then that is where I would stay. There is a few restaurants at the hill. For groceries there is a small local shop but most people probably choose to shop in the (small) town of Sälen which is roughly 20 minutes away. In Sälen you also have a few restaurants but then it's worth it to take the extra 10 minute drive to Lindvallen.

The parks in Kläppen are extremely good so it sounds like that is where you want to be!
