Hey!
I´m actually originally from Karlstad as well, and there aren\'t sadly that many good places close by. If your looking for a one day trip I would recommend Branäs up north in the province. It´s about 2 hour of driving, and there should be shuttles taking you there in the season. They are preliminary open from dec 23, but have a look on their
homepage for updates (it´s not in english, so hook up a swede for translation) They offers rentals as well.
If you looking for a thursday-sunday or maybe a week-long trip, I would recommend Åre, witch is the biggest resort in Sweden. They are actually offering student weeks, beginning in week 3 or something, with very affordable ticket/accommodation prices. Here is the
website. You will have to get yourself to Stockholm and transfer to a bus or train to go to Åre, there is no other connections with Karlstad.
Åre offers about everything you need on a ski resort - good skiing (groomers, offpist, park), bars/nightclubs, restaurants, aquatic centre etc. etc.
Read more about Åre on it's
website
Sälen is also an option for you, the resort (or resorts, actually) is very popular in your area, and the connections are way better than Karlstad-Åre. You are looking at about 6hr busdrive from Karlstad-Sälen, compared to about 12hr when choosing Åre. You are though loosing vertical feet, big times, but if your main preference is the park you should probably consider Sälen.

website.
Hope that this helped a bit, if you got any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
