Splitboarding in MonteRosa, Italy
Hi,
my name is Robin and I've been living in Champoluc for 8 years. I have been a snowboader for nearly 20 years, and after borrowing a friend's homemade splitboard 4 years ago, I am now a Splitboarder. I tour extensively in the MonteRosa valley on a Venture Zephyr with Spark R&D Afterburner bindings, and having realised how much of the mountain is now available to me, and how much undiscovered terrain there is, I have decided to try and help more snowboarders enjoy the amazing back country we have here.
Having spoken to many groups of snowboarders this season, it has become obvious that although they all would like to try Splitboarding, the high cost of equipment and then of transporting it here means that most will not get the chance to try it. I have therefore decided to start a Splitboarding company, providing equipment (including safety equipment) and organizing guided tours of the MonteRosa area, starting with basic hire, and extending to 1,2 or 3 day tours with fully qualified local mountain guides. A 2 or 3 day tour will include nights staying in the winter rooms of some of our local Rifugio, including Rifugio Guide Ayas and Quintino Sella.
I plan to have the company running fully for next winter season, maybe as early as November if we have enough snow here, but please get in touch whenever you like if you might be interested, either by commenting on this thread, or by contacting me on:
