Hi TJ, what did you chose for ”Whale of the week”?
– I hate to do it, but I’d have to say 2010 JOSS when Team Canada Won.
I still say it to this date – It was the best event ever and we didn’t think we even had a chance to win…
Why did you choose JOSS2010?
– I chose JOSS 2010 for my favorite memory because it truly was an amazing week of camaraderie, national pride, being in SWEDEN (my favorite country) competition, ultimate partying, best jumps of the year, all the best park skiers and just living the excitement that JOSS brings to our lives. Jon best be bringing it back for the younger generation. To this day, it’s one of my most proud moments in my competition career, and I got to share it with a whole team.
How many beers did you have during you sweden visit?
– Between the entire team? Enough to fill a regular sized lap-pool would be a good guess.
If you had a comp/event of your own, what would it be like?
– I would call up Jon Olsson and ask him to hold JOSS in Canada for me. Ha!
Whats happening with the Kids concept these days?
– The Kids concept movie fell to the wayside – The Kids idea though encapsulates the original Vernon, BC (my hometown) crew. Leboe, Dorey, Schuster, Bibby & myself. Maybe one day when we get all of our shit together we’ll do something for you guys to enjoy!
What are you up to right now?
– Golfing like mad. Trying to catch up with PK Hunder. Dude is a beast!
What are you doing this winter?
– Doing some School this fall, Going on some fun special trips with amazing friends to ski POW!
Who´s your favourite skier of all time and why?
– Always get this one, and truly never know the answer. People keep getting better and better each year, blowing my mind and going beyond all expectations than previously imagined. There are certain skiers I admire for all walks of life. Candide is just a guy I could watch all day doing anything. Wether it’s just turning down a mountain in cruddy icy conditions. I could watch that – and be stoked. He’s perfection in almost every way.
And then there is Henrik. Jesus christ. People shouldn’t be that good. Indescribably mind blowing wild shit.
Where do you live right now?
– Whistler & Vancouver in British Columbia Canada
When are you coming back to Sweden?
– Soon hopefully! Maybe Jon will fly me out to JOI to be a judge. As much as I would love to compete, I don’t think my big air game is quite up to speed ;P
The best AND the worst thing about Sweden?
– Best – The People! Everyone is so open to conversation (in really good english) and happy to show you around and make you feel at home.
Worst – The snus. It’s a love/hate relationship.
Do you have any other skills besides skiing?
– Haha, Yes. Indeed I do! Not JUST a skier believe it or not. I fell in love with cooking 4 years ago and have now done some school for it (just for fun, not as a job) But, i’ve been quite proud of some things I’ve made. It’s kind of a release for me to cook. I’m also a dedicated Golfer. Not up to PK Hunders game yet. But this year I’ve achieved a 10 handicap, so it’s getting there. And now i’m signed up for some school in Business / Marketing management… Most definitely some skills to be gained here. It’s funny to see now, but life cannot JUST be skiing all the time. It’s important to have a balance. When you are focusing on your one skill however, you give it 110%.
THE most memorable thing about JOSS 2010 (remember, we have kids reading too)?
– Straight up, just winning! And beating Team America when they thought they had it. Hahahaha! God we were too drunk at those awards. Go Canada. #WeWon
