The AIR BACK project has been developed to obtain maximum protection on impact. It represents the safety lab division's answer to a precise drawing drafted at the university of hanover that highlights the parts most at risk on the rider's back. Thanks to the innovative technology and to the protection system being extended to the shoulder blades area (conforming to standard prEN 1621/2) the "AIR-BACK" back protector helps to minimise the damage to the back in the event of violent impact.
Spidi presents the innovative "SAS" (Safety Air Shield) technology based on a combination of external rigid anti-intrusion shield and SHOCK-ABSORBER pneumatic system to disperse energy.
Thanks to DUAL-INJECTION moulding technology, the anti-intrusion rigid structure of the shield integrates rubber articulations (50 shore A) that allows AIRBACK to copy the movements of the spine both in longitudinalbending (rigid position) and the torsional one.
The air exchange between the communicating pads has an essential function in the event of violent impact. The shifting of the gas mass (pressurised at 2 bars) is neutralised with the temporary inflation of the connecting pads.

- Skyddar hela ryggen.
- Begränsar inte rörelser.
- Lätt att bära.
- Återstår på plats.
Svagheter:
- Det är dyrt (då betalade jag nästan 200 euro).
- Stycket i svansbenet kan flipa ur byxorna efter ducking.
- Inte så flexibel. Det följer inte riktigt ryggformens form under rörelser som att ducka, böja ryggen etc.

Jag använder detta bakskydd för motorcykelspårridning. Även om jag har det i några år nu brukade jag aldrig använda det för skidåkning. Jag kommer säkert att bära den nästa skidsemester.
Jag föll aldrig av min cykel med detta bakskydd. Men min vän har. Han sa att han var väldigt glad att han hade på sig det och att det gjorde jobbet perfekt. Han landade på ryggen och huvudet efter en highsider. Han sa att glida på banan var som att flytta på rullar.
